授業概要 自然科学および理工学系の話題を取り扱った英文を教材として、読解力を向上させることを主な目的とするテキストを使用して、正確な内容把握の向上を図るとともに、速読能力の向上も図る。 　　到達目標 　　　1. 科学的内容の英文を読解するための語彙を増強すること。 　　　2. 基本文法・構文の理解および応用ができること。 　　　3. 簡潔な英文の速読および精読ができること。 　　　4. 基本的な英作文能力を身につけること。

授業の進め方 割り当てられた担当者が担当箇所を解説しながら授業を進める。不十分な箇所については他の学生からの意見を求めながら、解説を加えることとする。

成績評価の方法 この科目は学修単位科目であるので、（９０時間−講義時間）以上の自学自習を必要とする。したがって、科目担当教員が課した課題の内、｛（９０時間−講義時間）×３／４｝時間以上に相当する課題提出がないと単位を認めない。 成績は、定期試験７０％、小テスト１０％、提出物１０％、発表１０％で評価する。TOEIC IPの点数を平常点に加味する。
学生へのメッセージ 授業には英和辞書を用意し、ノートをきちんととり、積極的に発言すること。 ALCを活用して、語彙を増やそう。
